Different cultures calculate age differently. In most Western countries, a person’s age is calculated on their birthday. For example, if someone lives 3 years and 11 months, they are considered 3 years old. On their next birthday, a month later, they will be 4 years old.
In some cultures, age is calculated differently. For example, in the traditional Chinese system, a child is considered one year old at birth. Then their age is calculated not on their birthday, but on Chinese New Year. If a child is born one day before Chinese New Year, they will be considered two years old in just two days, even if they are only a few days old.
Calculating age by months and days can sometimes be difficult. For example, February 20 to March 20 is counted as one month. But for February 28 to March 31, there are two ways to calculate it. One way is to count February 28 to March 28 as one month. Alternatively, February 28 and March 31 are both considered month ends, creating a gap of one month. Both methods are correct, but we generally take the first approach where February 28 to March 28 is one month.

You will also need to know which months have 31 days, which months have 30, and which months usually have 28 days in February (29 in leap years). Just add everything up, and you will get the correct number!
